Imagine this…
You spend time in a Facebook group or two, people get to know you and your business.
They come across a post asking for recommendations to businesses who offer what you do.
“I wholeheartedly recommend [@ YourName],” they say.
“They’re the best in their industry.”
The person asking is excited.
Hearing their friend’s recommendation elevates you to the top of their list.
Intrigued, they click on your name to visit your profile and find your contact details to get in touch.
Sounds good so far, eh?!
This is where it often goes pear-shaped though.
When the – very interested – prospect looks at your profile, what do they see?
“WE ARE CLOSED TO NEW BUSINESS!”
Well, ok, that’s not exactly what they see but for too many business owners, it’s what profile visitors perceive.
If you want interested prospects to do business with you after meeting or being recommended to you on Facebook, then AVOID making any of these 5 mistakes on your PERSONAL Facebook profile…
Because it’s your PERSONAL profile that is the gateway to your business.
What people see in your personal profile bio can win or lose you the business!
Let’s make sure yours is a winner.
#1: Your profile image
This picture should be a head and shoulders pic of you so we can see your face clearly.
Showing your face helps people trust you.
#2: Inactive page link
If you have a Facebook business page, make sure it’s properly linked as a workplace.
Visit your profile now and double check that when we click on your workplace we are taken to your page.
At least half of profiles I check have dead workplace links in them!
#3: No website link or location
Where in the world are you? It matters when time zones, delivery times and country relevance is involved.
How do we know what you sell if we can’t click through to your website or landing/sales page?
Assume they’re not going to go on a searching spree.
PS I recommend adding a /hub link in your profile that goes to a single page on your domain with links to all your free and paid offers in one place.
Make it easy for people to subscribe/buy.
#4: No intro paragraph
I [help] [ideal buyers] [get results].
You have 101 characters and done well, that intro will bring you leads on the regular, if you are active on Facebook.
#5: No publicly available authority content of your own
If all NON-FRIENDS can see when they look at your profile is shares of other people’s stuff or ‘funny memes’ – or worse, nothing except that you changed your profile picture in 2016, prospective clients will perceive that you are not a serious business owner.
This omission may also see your request to join business groups rejected as admins are assessing your bio and posts too.
Go check your Facebook personal bio now, before it costs you that referral to your next dream client!
