The other day, I heard a business leader tell their community that “successful people aren’t on social media because it’s a waste of their time”.
They’re not wrong.
Many successful business owners have a team of employees and the company invest heavily in Facebook ads to promote the brand, so the business owner’s personal interaction on social isn’t part of their marketing mix.
For them, time they spend on here would be put to better use elsewhere.
However, that’s not universally true.
For some of us, we have a small or no team and do some or all of the marketing ourselves.
Maybe, like me, you make your income from building your personal brand on social media.
Perhaps you’re in the middle right now – you want to grow your team so you can outsource some of your marketing and you are not quite making the level of income that will enable you to hire in help yet.
Whichever stage of business you’re at, what this leader said about wasting time on social is a good reminder of the danger of using Facebook as a procrastination tool.
You will get tons more done in the time you have available for marketing when you DISCERN how and where you spend your time here.

Are you making the most of your social media?
