The 5 stages of writing sizzling sales copy for emotion driven, spiritually connected coaches and experts.
Writing compelling promo copy should not begin when you sit down to write the words.
In this post, I’m going to walk you through the five stages I go through to write my own copy, so you can begin modelling my process.
#1: First you ponder…
Good promo copy starts in your head – observing, researching, and daydreaming about the EXPERIENCE you want to deliver when clients buy.
I imagine myself leading an experience inside a marquee.
i don’t know why it’s a marquee.
It’s not like I frequent them in general!
But in this marquee, I visualise us as a group, sharing an experience, I imagine what I’m sharing with them: the teachings, the extra bonuses and resources, and I see who is in the room with me – personalities, rather than actual people.
#2: Now you start to write.
The best way to write delicious, compelling copy that is FELT by your readers and motivates them into action, is this:
- Call into mind your ideal buyer. Can you visualise them?
- Imagine the person in your mind is someone very close to you. You feel their pain when they hurt and you burst with joy when they thrive.
- They’ve come to you with the pains/problems your offer solves, and they’ve told you they want the results your offer will deliver. Trouble is, it was two years ago they told you all this and they’ve done nothing to change their situation. Can you feel that frustration of knowing they can do it, wanting them to? Good.,
- Now, write to them and describe in details how the problems are impacting them every day and the positive impact achieving the results will have on the part of their life or business your work transforms.
No overthinking, editing or censoring yourself… let the words flow through you.
#3: Next, you sizzle.
When you read back your first draft, you’ll likely notice you used a lot of the same words.
Grab a thesaurus or the Words That Sell book and find alternative ways to say what you have written to add a fresh new perspective to your copy.
For example, in this sentence:
“Discover how to create social media content and sales page copy that grows your audience, creates connection and converts into leads and sales”.
… the duplication I would replace is the word, ‘create‘.
So the sentence becomes:
“Discover how to write social media content and sales page copy that grows your audience, creates connection and converts into leads and sales”.
And then, using the Words That Sell book, I would sizzle up some of the words, so the sentence is now:
“Unlock your limitless flow of inspiration to write standout social media content and sizzling sales page copy that grows your reach, builds a highly-engaged audience, and brings perfect-fit prospects flocking to buy“.
#4: Proof read.
Read your now sizzling draft aloud to check the sentences flow conversationally.
Listen out for any repetition of the same word within a short space of time that you may havr missed before, or inadvertently added when you were sizzling up.
Replace repeated words with alternatives as before.
Last step before publishing is to use your document’s spell-checker to get rid of any typos it catches.
#5: PUBLISH!
Now put your new masterpiece into the world, enjoy the sounds of your notifications beeping, and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
Tweak as you go if you need to.
