Do you want to build and nurture a team of affiliates who will promote your courses and programs to a wider audience, for a % of the sales revenue?

It sounds great, doesn’t it?

And yes, it is, but there’s a few misconceptions too.

So in this post I’m going to help you uncover the facts from the fiction.

You think: “everyone who signs up to be an affiliate will want to start referring so they get paid.”

The reality: nope. Less than 50% will even whisper about your offer.

You think; “I’ll be able to concentrate on working with clients while they bring me lots of sales”.

The reality: you’ll get sales here and there if your offer is evergreen, but they won’t be super regular or reliable.

If you’re in launch mode and cheerleading your affiliates hard, then you will likely have much bigger volumes.

You think; “They’ll be eager to bring in the commissions.”

The reality: We’re all so busy thinking about our own businesses that remembering yours won’t be high on the list.

If you want more va-va-vroom, you’ve got to bring it!

You think: “I’m paying them a % of revenue to do the work.”

The reality: you’ll need to give them swipe copy and graphics, prompts and reminders so it’s easy for them to share – especially if your affiliates are solo business owners who create all their own content.

You think: my fancy pants affiliate management platform will make it easy for me and them to know who has sold what.”

The reality: When people use incognito browsers, say ‘no’ when Apple asks if the website owner can track their online activity, or clear their cookies, the tracking can break – meaning there will be sales that they are not credited for.

Don’t get me wrong, you DO want a good affiliate management process and it WILL do the majority of the hard work for you and them.

But no platform is fool proof.

All I’m saying is be prepared that you will receive support requests asking you to check why their friend Helen who said they use their link isn’t showing on their dashboard.
