We watched the Eddie the Eagle movie on Sunday. It’s a really inspirational story, and a great film to check out if you haven’t seen it yet.
Long story short, Eddie’s dad was pretty dismissive of Eddie’s dream… he didn’t get his vision at all.
Always ‘trying to keep it real’ because he wanted to stop Eddie being disappointed ‘when’ it didn’t work out.
It’s quite often the case that family and friends don’t understand our passion for achieving our goals.
When what we aspire to is outside the realms of their imagination, their default is to worry about us or feel scared of being left behind.
They want to keep us ‘safely’ where you are now.
Anyway, back to the movie…
Eddie’s about to take the biggest jump of his life, and he freezes.
We can hear the doubting voices replaying through his mind…
“You can’t jump ‘that’ high!”
“You’ll fall badly and hurt yourself!”
This is a critical moment in his career and the outcome is in his hands – it could go either way.
Succeed or fail – it’s HIS Choice!
Eventually, he comes to and shakes off the voice… stepping up to the start line to take the jump.
But, that negative mind chatter is very likely present in your ear too…
“People will think I’m a show-off if I write a post on Facebook to share what I know.’
“My audience won’t like me anymore if I speak my truth.”
“I’m not ‘good enough’ to teach others.”
Here’s the thing… you might say to yourself that what you REALLY want is to make £10k a month, to have a queue of eager clients wanting to work with you, or to offer high-ticket packages.
You may even have made a vision board and affirm these goals to yourself every day.
But when it comes to doing the work…
- Writing that post sharing what you think and know – then sharing it from all of your social media accounts… including your personal Facebook profile so your friends can read it too.
- Creating and launching that online training program that you had the idea for ages ago so you can teach what you know.
- Getting visible with your message instead of hiding and lurking so that you can generate a regular flow of sales conversations.
You let your negative mind chatter stop you from doing the VERY thing that will take you closer to your goals.
You CHOOSE whether to let those doubting voices living in your head create your reality – or not.
Then, when the sun sets on another day where you’ve not written that post sharing your truth that you know will draw your ideal clients towards you, or you got triggered when your friend told you how they’d launched their online program and made 5 figures…
… and you feel crap about the reality of your situation right now…
Then just know that it’s the choice YOU made.
It’s SO important that you don’t just focus on the practical work, the ‘how to’ of what you say you want, but that you also do the inner work to silence those negative inner voices that are sabotaging your success.
