If your goal is to build a “6 figure business” then your route to success is not just about what you do in your business.
You can be doing all the ‘right things’ that the gurus are teaching you; following their systems to the letter and still not reach your income goals.
And the reason for that is that what you think, say and believe is as important, if not MORE important, than your business model.
But I’m not just talking ‘positive mental attitude’ here – although yes, that’s important too.
I’m talking about how you feel about money and wealth at a deep level.
Denise Duffield Thomas is the expert on this stuff, and I’ve been reading her book “Get Rich Lucky Bitch” recently… doing even more work on my own ‘money mindset’ and limiting beliefs as I set about uplevelling my life and business to a new, higher level.
Inside the book Denise details how from a very early age, we’ve been exposed to other people’s limiting beliefs – notably our primary care-givers and closest friends – and allowed them to seep into our subconscious as our very own ‘stay poor roadblocks’.
It’s no secret that I grew up in a council house on a council estate, so there was very little wealth around me as a child.
So when we saw someone who was clearly richer than us, we went straight into a ‘them and us mindset’, and comments such as “look at them in that flash car, who do they think they are?!” could be heard coming from the mouths of my friends and neighbours.
And I’m certain that no matter what level of wealth you were exposed to as a child, somewhere you would have heard negative comments made about anyone who was perceived to have ‘more than you’?
And those beliefs have seeped very deep inside your mind. Even if you don’t think you believe that wealth = bad, somewhere you can still be carrying that around inside your head – and it’s stopping you from charging what you’re worth.
And there’s another limiting belief right there – what ARE you worth?!
Here’s a little exercise for you;
Go stand in front of a mirror, and pretend you’re having a sales conversation with a potential client. The client wants to work with you, you know you have the expertise to help them (they’re buying your expertise!)
They’ve just asked you what the investment will be.
Look into your own eyes in the mirror and tell them/you that your hourly rate is £25,000.
How did that feel? Were you thinking “I can’t charge THAT much!” or any other negative kind of thinking along the same vein?
I deliberately chose a number that is likely to be more than you’d feel comfortable charging now, because I wanted you to feel the discomfort.
For you though that uncomfortable number could be £100, £1,000, or £10,000. We all have a number we’re comfortable with right now, and a line that we don’t ‘feel we can cross’ with our fees.
Right?
But the thing is why isn’t your expertise worth £25,000 per hour?
The only person who currently believes you aren’t worth more is you. And if you don’t believe you’re worth more, why should anyone else?
To hell with that, you ARE worth more that you currently believe.
I am worth more that I currently believe too.
So, as part of reading Denise’s book, I’ve been doing some serious ‘uplevelling’ in my personal life.
I’m looking around me, and questioning what I’ve allowed myself to ‘settle for’ that is less than I’m worth.
For 5 years I settled for living in crap surroundings that took me out of high vibe every time I went home. We changed that last year to move here – where my heart sings every time we get our first glimpse of the island as we journey home. TICK.
Now I want to step by step ditch everything I’ve allowed myself to just accept is what it is, when I know I am worth more.
- I’m on a mission now to lose 4 stones in weight, because I settled for that too – eating more healthily because I’m worth more than the crap I used to eat. TICK.
- I’ve upgraded my make up from Avon to MAC – TICK
- My hair products to Tigi – TICK
- The car will be upgraded next year when the lease runs out – TICK
- We’re going on a holiday we would both have felt ‘unworthy of’ 2 years ago (nor could we have afforded it 2 years ago without credit carding it – debt is another no no now, it’s not high vibe) – TICK
- My watch that I look at every hour – is that the most I’m worth? No, so that’s getting an upgrade too – TICK
- The people I hang out with; do they make me feel high vibe or bring me stress? I’ve parted ways with one person this week from my team who didn’t share my values. I want more. I’m worth more – TICK
- Right down to the silly stuff; like the bath mat. I see it every time I go in the bathroom, and we’ve had it YEARS but I had stopped ‘noticing it’ – that’s gone too… been replaced with a new one – another TICK.
- I won’t allow anything ‘value’ or ‘saver’ foodwise in the house – low vibe.
So I ask you again. What are YOU worth?
Do YOU believe you are worth that 6-figure income?
Look around you… are you allowing other people’s limiting beliefs to limit your success? Are you ‘settling’ for low vibe surroundings?
Start uplevelling your life now and your income will follow.
What will you uplevel today? Go premium baby!
Because you, yes YOU, ARE worth more!

Hey Veronica – this is SUCH a great post. You’ve really hit the nail on the head when it comes to the “look at them in that flash car, who do they think they are?!” SYNDROME that we are used to, growing up in working class Britain….but F*** that! The more we understand that the supply of money int he world is endless, the more we can get on with claiming our share of it. – To your success, Veronica!
Really love this post…..
Hi Veronica
After listening to your webinar I too went out and bought the book ‘Get Rich Lucky Bitch’.
I was also raised in a ‘poor’ environment and my money blocks have caused endless self sabotage. Despite marrying into wealth I have had an internal struggle with feeling deserving or worthy of the abundant lifestyle that I have.
I am going to sit down and do all the tasks acknowledging where & when these have originated from. I too feel the need to treat myself to new things.
I am starting with restyling my own home as I have put up with living in a mess for far too long. Time for me now and I’m going to have what I want & not just make do!
I am worth it!
I am also hoping this will unblock some of my success fears in business as I know I have got so much to offer people yet something is stopping me from shouting about myself.
Thank you for the inspirational words.
Jenny
