Adding video to your Linked in profile is a great way to enhance your credibility with your profile viewers and although not an entirely straightforward process, it is very simple and will take about 5 minutes.
How to add video to your Linked in profile;
Step #1: Go to Slideshare.net and set up a free account (or log in if you are an existing user)
Step #2: Confirm your email address by clicking the link in the email from Slideshare (new accounts only)
Step #3: Upload a blank 1-slide PowerPoint Presentation to Slideshare
Step #4: In Linked in, click ‘more’ then ‘add apps’, select the Slideshare app and install it
Step #5: Go to YouTube and copy the URL of the video you want to add to your Linked in profile
Step #6: Go back to Slideshare, select ‘My Uploads’ ‘edit’, select ‘Yes’ to add YouTube videos, paste the YouTube URL where prompted and select ‘show before slide 1’
That’s it!
(Thanks to Rob Wilkinson for this tip!)
After a few minutes, your Slideshare video will be showing at the bottom of your Linked in profile.

While you’re in Linked in, it’s a good opportunity for you to check your profile is as polished and up-to-date as it could be.
Have you edited your summary info lately? Does it still reflect what you offer?
Are you regularly requesting testimonials? If you’ve worked for any of your Linked in connections recently, why not spend ten minutes now asking for a recommendation which will automatically appear on your profile?
Is your Linked in profile 100% complete? Take a look at the sections that you haven’t yet completed… can you complete those now?

I have a video on my Linked in profile and haven’t been charged?
Although it may be that you can’t set up a new Slideshare video without paying?
Tbh I’m finding it a bit annoying as it auto plays as soon as you open the profile – not always convenient! And because the video is at the bottom of the profile, it’s not immediately obvious where the voice is coming from either!
No great loss if you can’t do them anymore IMO…
You have to pay a fee to use Slide Share to post a video on your Linkedin profile now.
Can you post a link to a Linkedin profile that has posted a video using Slide Share and does not have to pay a fee to SlideShare?
I just sent an email to this user on Linkedin asking her how she did it without paying,
because she posted the same info as this blog:
This Young Lady, Taylor Ellwood uses SlideShare and Youtube on her profile:

This is what Taylor wrote back to me when I asked how I could do likewise for free:
“Hi Ed,
Now they require payment. At the time I posted about it, they didn’t.
