Are you shying away from certain types of marketing because you don’t like it?

It’s important to remember that you are NOT your customer!

I hear people say that they don’t like marketing, such as:

  • Receiving more than one email a week, so they won’t send more than one email to their list each week.
  • Seeing browser notifications on their screen, so they won’t serve browser notifications to their audience.
  • Facebook adverts appearing in their timeline, so they won’t use Facebook ads to reach more of the people who need their help.
  • Reading long-form sales pages so they won’t use long-form sales pages to sell their programs.

… and so on.

Test Your Marketing

It’s easy to assume that because you or I feel a certain way about something, our audience won’t respond to it and it won’t get results.

I mean, if you ask people if they WANT to receive marketing emails, a large majority will say no.

But when I ran a survey last year, asking people whether they had made at least one purchase from an email in the previous 12 months, 79% said YES.

If you ask people if they WANT to see Facebook ads in their newsfeed, a good majority will say no to that too.

Yet, lots of business owners are generating tons of leads and sales from advertising on Facebook every day.

You can’t know what marketing is going to work unless you test it with YOUR audience!

  • Test sending one more promo email this week than you sent last week.
  • Test long form sales copy against short form copy for the same offer.
  • Test using Facebook ads, and test variations of ad copy, images, targeting and objectives to find the golden combination that converts best for you.
  • Test sending browser push notifications…

…  Track how well your audience responds.

Whatever it is that you’re avoiding because you don’t like it personally, give it a go.

Test it, don’t assume.

When I hear myself making an assumption about my marketing based on what I think, I test it, and quite often prove myself wrong!

Which assumption could you prove wrong this week?
