If you are an introvert with a free Facebook group that is weighing you down, burning you out, and despite your best efforts – the group engagement is dying or dead…
It’s NOT your fault!
It’s because there are two types of free groups.
– the “evergreen” group.
– and the “pop-up” group.
Only ONE type is right for introverts!
Evergreen groups are always open for people to join and engage.
Pop-up groups are open for a short while, for a specific purpose, then archived.
Evergreen groups are extroverted
– they rely on the group leader initiating content daily/multi-daily to fuel the group’s energy.
Many introverts start evergreen free groups with a bunch of ideas and good intentions.
After a short while, posting regularly and consistently in their group starts to feel like a millstone around their neck.
It stops being fun.
And the effort doesn’t convert into sales either.
Extroverts are hard wired to create content.
Introverts are hard wired to respond.
For us introverts, we have periods when we have lots of energy for creating content, but longer periods when we don’t want to post anything.
And it’s in the times when you’re in ‘retreat mode’ that coming up with content for the evergreen group is a problem.
Days, weeks, or months go by and you’ve not posted in your group.
It weighs on your mind, distracting.
The energy of the group matches the energy of the group owner.
Your heavy weighing ‘meh’ energy translates into a low energy group that people stop paying attention to.
Now your dying group is something else that bogs you down.
There’s also the fact that if you’re using all your ‘initiate’ energy to create content for the group, you’re limiting your visibility and reach, because the content can’t be seen outside the group.
The best type of free group for introverts are pop up groups, like free challenges.
The group is open for a few weeks, and you can enjoy the real buzz of your high energy, high-engagement group for that short time.
Then, at the end of your challenge, you archive the group.
