You know that thing that you’re worrying about… the thing that you really want to happen in a certain way, or at a certain time, and you’re expending a ton of energy in trying to make it go your way? Stop it. Not that easy though is it? Especially when you’ve got your inner control freak projecting all of their worries into your head!

Last week I had the opportunity to interview Denise Duffield-Thomas, who has been a business hero of mine since I read her book last year, and by following her teachings, worked through a lot of my own money blocks that were holding me back.

A couple of weeks previously, she had sent out an email to her Lucky Bitch Money Bootcamp community, announcing that she was making a few interview slots available, and inviting us to apply for one of the slots.

The application process was pretty in-depth, and it was made clear that only those who Denise felt were a good fit after researching their online presence would be accepted.

I submitted my application, and a couple of days later was really excited to receive an email back informing me that Denise would love to do an interview with me, with the link to schedule the call.

However, the earliest slot was 10pm UK time (Denise is in Australia).

My heart sank.

I have a personal rule not to work beyond 8.30pm, as I need a couple of clear hours to wind down, and when I’ve ignored that rule in the past, I get virtually no sleep, which impacts how productive I am for the following 2 or 3 days.

So I had a decision to make. I REALLY wanted to do this interview – both for myself, because I was excited to get to know Denise better, and for you, because I knew what she had to share would be of massive value to you.

But at the same time, my #1 priority is getting enough rest, so as not to compromise my health.

The email arrived 2 days before we went on holiday, so I decided to leave it until we came back to make the final decision. I would give it some more thought while I was away.

Whilst on holiday, I made my decision. I didn’t want to do an interview at 10pm, I couldn’t. But I also didn’t want to formally decline the invite.

I concluded that if it was meant to happen, it would. Me going to and fro with worrying about it was my inner control freak trying to run the show, so I set the intention that I would interview Denise, then I asked the big U to take care of it.

I let it go.

Why it's not just disney that should let it go!On my first day back in the office after the holiday, I checked her calendar again, and noticed that a whole bunch of additional slots had been added for one day – 48 hours later. The extra slots were all UK daytime, starting from 8.30am.

Perfect timing.

There’s 2 lessons that we can take away from this; firstly, you know that thing that you worry about… that you really want to happen and you’re expending a ton of energy in trying to make it happen your way? Stop it. Set the intention and trust that if it’s meant to happen it will, but your stressing about it is more than likely pushing your desired outcome further away.

Let it go!

Secondly, you don’t have to compromise on any rules you’ve set for your business. If you’re like me and need rest, design your schedule to allow rest time, and don’t give that time away. You don’t need to, because if whatever it is that is prompting you to not put yourself first is meant to happen, it will – at a time that works for you.

It might not be rest that you protect time for, it could be spending time with your kids, having a massage, or date night with your partner. If it was important enough for you to allocate time for it in the first place, it is important enough for you not to compromise on it.

You’re worth it.

If the thing you’re worrying about centres around money, then you really should commit to clearing your money blocks to invite more abundance.
